Actress and Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden heads a stellar line up in Maria Friedman's revival of Richard Harris's uplifting comedy Stepping Out. Based on the 1991 film starring Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters, the cast also includes Angela Griffin, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Tamzin Outhwaite and Nicola Stephenson.
This amusing and heart-warming play follows the lives of seven women and one man who meet each week at a tap dance class in a dingy North London church hall, struggling to conquer their inhibitions and a preponderance of left feet. Pseudo-snob Vera, mouthy Maxine, insecure Andy, bubbly Sylvia, anxious Dorothy, eager Lynne, larger than life Rose and shy bumbling widower Geoffrey all try their very best as a class.
Spurred on by ever-patient dance teacher Mavis Turner and the cantankerous Mrs Fraser at the piano, the disparate group gradually move from stumbling acquaintance with each other to forge a cohesive team worthy of performing to an outside audience at a charity gala.
