Following its sold out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Michael Mayer's hit production of Funny Girl transfers to the Savoy Theatre for a limited 12 week season starring Olivier and BAFTA Award winner Sheridan Smith and former Pop Idol hopeful Darius Campbell.
Set in New York City, Funny Girl is loosely based on the life and career of Fanny Brice. A Brooklyn music hall singer and Ziegfeld Follies comedienne, she went on to become one of Broadway's biggest stars, and the musical charts her rise to fame and her turbulent relationship with suave entrepreneur and gambler Nicky Arnstein.
The 2016 revival will mark the 50th anniversary of the original West End production of Funny Girl in 1966 which shot Barbra Streisand to fame and the score features iconic songs including People, You Are Woman, I Am Man, My Man and Don’t Rain On My Parade.
