Olivier Award-winning director Phelim McDermott stages his distinctive new production of Giuseppe Verdi's classic opera Aida. Sopranos Latonia Moore and Morenike Fadayomi will share the title role alongside Gwyn Hughes Jones as Radamès.
A timeless story of duty, doomed love and betrayal amid the clash of war, beautiful Ethiopian slave girl Aida must choose between the man she loves and the homeland she longs for. Betrayal is the only option.
Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts Verdi’s score which contrasts swaggering military marches with tender lyricism and features the well-known arias Celeste Aida, Ritorna Vincitor and the classic Triumphal March.
This production is sung in English with subtitles projected above the stage.
