Jeremy Herrin's production of James Graham's biting political play This House receives its timely West End debut following two sell-out runs at the National Theatre.
It’s 1974 and the corridors of Westminster ring with the sound of infighting and backbiting as Britain’s political parties battle to change the future of the nation, whatever it takes.
Set in the engine rooms of the House of Commons, This House offers an insight into the workings of Parliament, delving deep into the secret world of the whips who roll up their sleeves, bend the rules and occasionally go to farcical lengths to influence an unruly rabble of backbenchers and MPs.
In this chaotic hung parliament, votes are won and lost by one and allegiances are thrown aside in the struggle for power. Fist fights erupt in the bars, high-stake tactics are employed and ill MPs are hauled in to the lobby to cast their crucial votes as the government hangs by a thread.
