Following their critically acclaimed performances at New York's Lincoln Center, Academy Award-winning actress Emma Thompson and international operatic star Bryn Terfel reprise their lead roles as Mrs Lovett and Sweeney Todd in Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s gloriously gruesome musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street which plays a strictly limited season at the London Coliseum in Spring 2015.
When barber Benjamin Barker, alias Sweeney Todd, returns to London after 15 years in exile on trumped-up charges, he hatches a devious plan to take revenge on the judge who banished him. Teaming up with wily pie shop owner Nellie Lovett, he sets about dispatching customers from his barber’s chair to Mrs Lovett's oven below. But Mrs Lovett is hiding a secret which will put an abrupt end to the nefarious pair's days of people-filled pastry-making.
Showcasing some of Sondheim's most memorable melodies, the ENO orchestra will be performing on stage alongside the cast making this macabre modern classic a production not to be missed!
