Multi award-winning American actress Lindsay Lohan makes her West End debut alongside The West Wing star Richard Schiff and Nigel Lindsay in Lindsay Posner's highly anticipated revival of Speed-the-Plow, David Mamet's brilliantly brutal 1988 satire on Hollywood greed.
High-powered Hollywood film executives Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox are convinced they are on to a sure-fire box-office winner when hugely bankable movie star Doug Brown agrees to appear in their new film. But when temporary secretary Karen derails the dream by seducing Gould and convincing him to dump the blockbuster in favour of an adaptation of an obscure apocalyptic novel, Fox is forced to resort to desperate measures to get their plan back on track.
Complete with Mamet’s caustic wit and trademark rapid-fire dialogue, Speed-the-Plow is a dazzling dissection of Hollywood cupidity offering a glimpse into a culture as corrupt as the society it claims to reflect.
