Show Details
Following an acclaimed sell-out run at the Chichester Festival Theatre, Jonathan Kent's dazzling revival of Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical Gypsy transfers to the West End for a strictly limited season starring Imelda Staunton, Peter Davison and Laura Pulver.

Loosely based on the memoirs of legendary burlesque entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee, Gypsy tells the tale of domineering show business mother Rose Hovick who has big plans for her two daughters June and Louise.

Travelling across 1920s America with their cheery family Vaudeville act, Baby June is the undoubted star of the show. But when a rebellious teenage June decides to quit the show with her own ambitions in mind, a desperate Rose turns her fierce attention to shy Louise, vowing to make her a star.

But Louise has spent a lifetime in her sister’s shadow and doesn't fit into the tired old routine. More worryingly, times are changing; the popularity of Vaudeville is on the wane and with the rise of risque burlesque, audiences are expecting to see much more of their stars than ever before....

Featuring classics including Let Me Entertain You, Small World, Rose’s Turn and Everything's Coming Up Roses, Gypsy is both moving and spectacularly entertaining.
